Jim, I have 375 acres in Venango twp. and was wondering the same thing as yourself. The only info I could obtain was that Rex Energy will be leasing later this year. If you find something out please let me know.

I will let you know what road are you on???? I use my land right now just for hunting. Have you try to contact anyone???

We contacted Rex Energy in Nov. 09 and they told us that they will be leasing in 2010 and they will contact me. If and when I hear from them I'll let you know if you would like me to. I'll have to look at a map and see what the name of the road is--then I'll get back to you.

Its best not to approach the companies and wait for them to approach you. You want to get the best deal possible, so you want them coming to you. Trust me, if you have marcellus shale gas, they will come eventually.

Unless you need money right away, hold out for a good bonus and royalty rate. This site lists what others are getting. Right now it seems to be running around 2000 an acre at 15%, however out east they're starting to get 6000 an acre with 20% royalities. I know my family is keeping an eye on the market, its supposed to get higher and higher in the coming months/ year.

Also in Venango Twp and presently working with Shell.  in the final stages of

finishing my addendums with my lawyer.  They are offereing $3,000 an acre

with a 15% royalty, 5 year with 5 year .....
