Has anybody received checks (annual rental payments) from the "Lease Rental Account" at Columbia Gas Transmission?

yes many people do.  the checks come each year in Jan/Feb.

Will accepting/depositing this check cause any problems with future % royalties from Chesapeake? We have never received payments from Columbia in the past and just received one in Nov. Our land is leased to Chesapeake via Trinity but is part of the Brinker Storage Unit. Also, the acreage listed on the payment stub is 5X larger than our actual parcel so it appears to be part of an original larger unit that has ultimately been split into smaller parcels.

I do not understand your post.  if your land is in the brinker storage, how can you have a lease with CHK] chesapeake? no way would CHK lease in the Brinker storage. thats  what the law suits are about. people in the Brinker storage could not lease their deep rights.

I would contact columbia and get it straightened out.

Donald, Sorry but you are mistaken. When we bought our house there were 2 leases. One with RR bought by CHK and one with Columbia. So we are in the Brinker Storage and we are in a drilling unit with CHK that has the well done.

Columbia was aware of the deep rights on our Storage area being leased to a different company.

So it is possible to be in the Brinker Storage with a columbia gas lease and have CHK have the deep mineral rights.

This seems to be confusing to me, i must be missing something. you leased with Trnnity, they transfured your lease to chk, chk drilled a well, and your in the unit, did CHK drill outside the storage or through the storage? did columbia sign off the on the  deep rights? do you have a lease with chk?

I am being paid storage rental on land in the Brinker storage, but can not lease the deep rights. I have never been contacted by columbia, but have been contacted by Hilcorp which  has the rights to drill in the Brinker storage pending an agreement with the land owners.

Have no idea what Trinity is.

We get storage rental from Brinker/ Columbia for the storage well.

The deep rights at some point in time before I owned the property were leased to a different company. RR ended up selling the deep rights to CHK this past spring.

I have no idea if it is through or under the brinker storage.

My point was that CHK DOES own the deep mineral rights in the Brinker. And have a well drilled in a unit containing the Brinker.

Columbia is VERY aware that they no longer own the deep rights to this part of the Brinker. Across the street is a totally different story.

Thanks for the info. I will not say I understand it, but their are things I don't understand, I'll just add this to the list. hope you get some good royalitys and they go on for years and years .yes cash your check from columbia. the best of luck to you.

Don

I have a lease with Chesapeake but I own the deep rights does this person asking about cashing the check own their deep rights.  If so they will still receive a check from Columbia for storage.

Cash the check. If its their error it's their fault as far as I know. Hurry up!
Actually, Trinity did execute leases with landowners in the Brinker Storage unit and then transferred/assigned to Chesapeake. We signed a lease with Trinity a year and a half ago, received payment from them, and then they realized we were in the Brinker unit. We then received notification from Columbia about a month ago that we are part of the Brinker unit. Apparently, Trinity did not do sufficient due diligence.

Ok, I understand now. you got lucky, but don't look for royalitys from CHK. you are in the Brinker storage, hilcorp has the rights to drill if they can work out terms with the people in the Brinker storage. you can call CHK to verify your lease statis.

as for coumbia, i have heard of other people being paid for lease acerage they didn't own, columbia has not keept up on land transfurs.

did columbia pay you for back lease rental? if not they, should pay you from the day you bought your property.

We are also in the Brinker Storage field and signed with Trinity in early 2011.  They were very aware of the storage field at that time.  Some of us who sit on top of this field have strata leases which limit the depth that Columbia Gas controls. We have always received a small royalty from Columbia Gas, but still had no problem leasing.  Chesapeake acquired our lease and now, if you look at the county records, Total holds the lease.  I agree with the next post that many of us won't see royalties until Hilcorp gets a deal worked out with the remaining landowners on the storage field who have been unable to lease.
