Was anybody else in the Buckeye Mineral lease group that signed in Feb?  The signing was held at an old school near Salem.  Anybody from that group get paid yet?  How can you tell if your lease was recorded?  I live near the Janie (sp?) well in Washington Twp.  Looking forward to some $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

What bonus and royalties did your group get?

The bonus is $5800/acre and royalty is 20% gross.

Matt - it's fairly easy to search the recorder's site for the lease recording.  Google Columbiana county recorder and go to the search.

You'll have to check at your County Recorder's Office to see if a lease has been recorded.

Was in that group & got check April 12. Had to be one of the 1st. Less than 60 days, but Mah. County. Suspect they may be going alphabetically since next door guy still waiting & have heard of no imediate plans in our area for anything.

Finnbear that link is fantastic for the land records, thank you.
The 1st time I went in I was able to pull up the history of a parcel or name but now I can only get one date after I moved to a windows laptop so all the features worked. I backed out a few times, reset, retried the link, came off the laptop back onto the apple tablet, but I'm getting the same result now. If you know what I've done wrong please friend me or post if you have time.
One thing I was looking at was the transfer of Chesapeake lease to total and why it indexes so many names on a parcel that I know has nothing to do with that parcel so that's when I tried the other parcel again which than only showed one small result but earlier it showed all recordings.
Frustrating.

Kathleen, what I noticed from using that site, for transfers of the lease to another assign....like dps to chk the list includes others in a signing group, or other parcels that were also transferred.   It confused me too in the beginning.   Are you saying the site isnt working right lately?  I havent been on it in a while.

I figured it had to a group that was transferred at the exact same time since honestly one parcel I looked up had to have had 100 names for 3 acres :0)
When did this site start? I didn't think anything like this existed and I love it if it will just work like it did during my first by name search :0). If other people knew about it they could see right off the bat if they have a lease recorded and the date it went on record.
If this is available what is the big fight about between the recorders office and the commissioners I wonder. I guess the actual viewing of the leases, liens, deeds etc. but that's a guess on my part.
It even says (I didn't try it though) that you can print your search. Fun site if your interested in this type of stuff and I sure know I am :0). Thanks.

I went on the site the other day and it seems to be working fine now.   Maybe there was alot of people on it the other day.

The problem at the courthouse and with the commissioners is having the records digitized and more  readily available.  The courthouse is full of young workers employed by the gas companies doing title searches.   While your property may be clearly transferred and this is reflcted on the recorder website, others are not so clear.   Some properties were transferred not through clear deed but probate actions due to death of the owner, or civil actions, sherrif sales etc.  And in some of these cases the mineral rights may have been seperated.   The gas companies need to establish that the person signing the lease does indeed have the rights to the gas.

Great job Finnbear, this really helped.  It appears my lease has changed a couple of times since I signed in April 2011.

Thanks for the info

Hello,

According to my lease, Chesapeak has until June 16 to pay up the bonus money.  With their current financial situation, what are my chances?  Will I still be locked up with Buckeye mineral otherwise?

Thanks
