Chris, Was there also a Hilcorp to Shell assignment in mid July?

Things are way too quiet in Lawrence County......are we a sleeping giant?

Seems the two Big Players of Lawrence Co are consolidating their holdings and designing drilling units. By next year, Shell should have all the ROW they need and perhaps start a more aggressive drilling program. Hilcorp will accelerate its drilling in  Lawrence and Mercer Co.

All we need now is for Shell to move ahead on the cracker plant.

Based on news from Shell this week (bad 2Q) they are planning on selling "part of their North American shale holdings"..No specific info on which areas..I wouldn't think we would be part of that but you can never tell with such a large entity..

Also found some interesting info on Shell yesterday, Seems they have some serious interest in the Burkett formation. Three (3) of the Kephart wells and five (5) of the Twentier wells are permitted for the Burkett, plus one (1) of the Henry wells and three (3) of the Mayberry are for the Genesee(sp?) formation..Seems they either found something they like or are still in the exploratory phase..I guess time will tell all, certainly gonna be interesting 'round here for the next few years..

Glenn,

I didn't notice anymore Hilcorp transfers but I really wasn't looking at them since they transferred my lease to Shell..You can find all the info on the Lawrence Co Recorder's website..

Thanks Chris. I noticed another assignment recorded in mid July on the recorders website. My computer won't allow me to open it to see who was the assignee or any other details. ( I really need to invest in a new one) I thought it was Shell , but not positive on that. It involves a good smattering of twps. though.

Hilcorp seems to be on a leasing frenzie around (and in) New Castle, judging from the bunch of lease recordings happening. I'm assuming small parcels and lots are being sought out , as I see New Castle precinct numbers listed among some of them.

With all the activity on paper , it sure would be nice to hear from others on this site with some knowledge of goings on in the County. I am curious as to what Shell and Hilcorp are paying for leases these days. Leasing is still happening , yet mum seems to be the word.

It appears leasing is alive and well , I just wish more drilling and unitization and infrastructure would start happening. Maybe I am just growing impatient. But then again , how long should it take? Hard to understand the cloak of secrecy surrounding development also , since it appears Hilcorp and Shell are more like partners than competitors. Correct me if I am wrong , but they appear to have monopolized Lawrence County , haven't they?

In the meanwhile I guess we will have to be content with what we can glean from one another and what resources we are privy to. More information from the Companies who hold our futures in their hands would be greatly appreciated , however.

Pennant Midstream ( http://ir.nisource.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=689946 ) has submitted the permit application for their 20" pipeline that will run through Mercer and Lawrence counties over to their cryogenic plant in Ohio.

It is listed on the DEP site here:

Yep, looks like Lawrence co is gonna be developed by Hilcorp & Shell..They sure have very different methods of operating, Hilcorp is going "all out" w/pipelines, plants, etc while Shell is being very slow and methodic..don't know how much of that is due to the cracker plant, but even without the cracker the gas is still gonna be sold elsewhere. I'm just curious about how many profitable shale plays we have in Lawrence Co?  Shell seems to exploring several different ones. Just makes me wonder what we really have and if we'll ever realize anything from it or will it be our kids and grandkids??

Well Glenn... we as aging landowners have expiration dates... these companies do not. They can wait 10, 20, 50, or even 100 years if the business model says so.

I think Chevron owns a bunch of HBP leases in lawrence/mercer counties, bought from atlas. I expect them to be sold to hilcorp at some point.

Rick if ya think about it I bet ya my heirs will outlive all them oil co's, so as long as they produce the gas, etc we'll be most happy to collect the royalties..

I'm only 2yrs. Into a5yr.lease so maybe am growing impatient prematurely. :-).
Just hope my shelf life excedes the wait by a few years..LOL!

I concur completely,,,I feel your pain..

Chris,

Type in Co exprise in the County recorders site using all names as a search type and check that out......Over 500 assignments to them thus far........? All over the County , even here in New Beaver. I know for a fact some of these were Hilcorp , then Shell , and now Co Exprise. I border one of these (now co exprise) properties that was assigned to Shell from Hilcorp just this January. It is only 4 or 5 acres attached to maybe 60 acres of Hilcorp land , the sum of which is an island among hundreds of acres of Shell leaseholds.

How is this going to affect the landowners concerned once the royalty checks begin to flow? I mean , co exprise will be cutting their checks by the look of things...? They appear to be emerging as a Gasco of some sort , I guess? Shellcorprise? Interesting to watch the evolutionary process , now if they would just get their drillbits in the dirt! (before we hit the dirt) LOL!

Looked at some of those assignments..appears as though these recordings are for their 5% interest in the owners royalties for the first 5 yrs of the well production..Don't think Coexprise is trying to become an oil & gas company.
