Was that rig on 62 next to Flynn tire shop there long enough to drill a horizontal well??

It takes about three weeks to drill a horizontal well. Some companies can do one in 18 days.  A lot depends on depth and length of horizontal leg.  But in new areas they usually do a lot of core sampling which takes longer. My guess is they did one well with a lot of core samples. But they may have done both if they didn't do a lot core work.

Bill- good question. Maybe there's an explanation in there about the loud boom that shook our house Monday night. Hilcorp had permits to drill 2 horizontal wells at the James site. I can't think they were able to drill both in 45 days. The other day someone told me they heard the well was a bust, I sure hope not. Makes you wonder why Chevron is drilling 2 wells off Charleston Rd if Hilcorp had a bad well. You can't believe everything you hear, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hope it shows up in my backyard!

I was hoping the same thing Cory, but a birdie told me it went back to KINKELA in lawrence county. I havent drove by to check just yet,and seen nothing on lawrence site. Keep the clock counting, it will return soon!

The bird was,the right, rig went to KINKELA.

Looks like they're starting to frac the James well. Truck are moving in this weekend.

Fracking done.

I see what looks like a "flare" pipe when I went by the James well today. Do they flare the well before the 60-90 day resting period?

I also heard that Shell is drilling a vertical test bore (well?) at the Palmer site. Was told the smaller rig will drill a vertical well first then cement it completely before the big rig shows up. No word on how deep they will drill. Sounded like a daylight only operation since they leave at the end of each day. Apparently they truck out the drilling materials as they go.

I was past there today and thought that small rig would be for a test well. The DEP website only has a horz. well permitted but maybe they do not need a permit for a test well.

They're flaring the James well. Flare doesn't look that big.

Anyone happen to notice the pink flag markers at Valley Rd and 62 and up Swingle Rd? This was seismic tested last summer. Marker flags have reappeared again. Anyone know anything about new drilling in that area?

For what it's worth......the flare at the James well is much bigger today..
The flare pipe is gone from the James well already. Anyone know if that is normal?
