Notary?

Checking into my lease.  Is it necessary for a Notary to have signed orignal lease of oil & gas rights?  Lease has witnesses, but no mention of Notary Public or any type of official seal.

*The lease pertains to two producing Clinton wells drilled in the late seventies.

did you or anybody prior cash a check from the leaser since the lease was signed? Did you heat your house since the well was drilled? These two things show you have knowledge of said lease and are in agreement with it.
