It's certainly possible, but you have to look at who's saying it.  John Hofmeister, ex-president of Shell, has a book coming out ("Why We Hate the Oil Companies: Straight Talk From an Energy Insider"), so maybe he's just trying to drum up a little resentment toward oil companies. Or maybe he knows what he's talking about. We'll have to wait and see...the higher oil/gasoline prices go, the more attractive natural gas  becomes.

 At 5.00 a gallon people will start making there own bio-diesel . If you own a truck, car or tractor with a diesel.

One of my neighbors has already set up a distillery.  A few years back we got to talking about his early attempt to set one up. He had  a partner who had the ability to put one together and mt neighbor was financing the deal. But there were too many cash outlays and that deal fell thru. So then I told him that I could look on the internet for infomation. Maybe I could find one that was for sale or at least a lead. He had someone else looking too. Anyway an unused  and small distillery turned up and he bought it. He had the 18 wheeler rigs to move it from a southern state. It took several trips but eventually they got it moved and set up and in operation.  They fermented corn to use and then later fed the mash to their cattle.

 I read its better fuel than you buy at the gas station its better for your engines it has more lubricant in it for your injector pumps and fuel injectors your neighor is on top of things good for him.

I think that he had a couple of problems with it though. One thing was that his supplier of corn upped the price. And another problem was the alchohol content was not quite up to snuff for fuel. I think it needed a little adjusting.

 

As I recall I looked up the alcohol content of various things that could be used for the production. The top was artichokes, better then corn even! I will have to go back and look for that list again. You could use just about anything that would ferment as I recall. He told me that someone he knew was working on some kind of  yeast, I think he said, that would improve the alcohol content recoverable from corn. This was a few years ago however.
