"Despite prolonged weakness in natural gas prices, Range Resources is making major advances in the Marcellus Shale gas play in the Appalachian region of the eastern U.S.

Range, with extensive Marcellus operations in Pennsylvania, is "bringing on some spectacular new wells," CEO John Pinkerton said in an operations update today.

Range's Marcellus wells are benefiting from considerable production of more attractively priced natural gas liquids such as propane and butane. Plus, the gas draws higher prices because it is sold into the lucrative Northeast market. ..."
