"Talisman Energy expects 2011 spending to hold steady at US$4 billion"

The bad news for TC is:
"The budget includes about US$1.7 billion set aside for North American operations, though the company noted it aims to reduce the amount it spends on dry gas by 35 per cent."

Additional info from Talisman website:

"TALISMAN ENERGY 2011 GUIDANCE

... North American spending of approximately US$1.7 billion, with a 35% reduction in spending on dry
gas. The company plans to increase activity in the liquids rich Eagle Ford shale, conventional oil
properties and the Farrell Creek [British Columbia] shale play. ...

In the Pennsylvania Marcellus play, Talisman has budgeted approximately US$800 million, including infrastructure capital. Talisman plans to reduce the number of rigs in the play from 12 at the end of 2010 to nine rigs over the course of 2011. The plan is to drill approximately 100 net wells in the Marcellus in 2011. The company expects production to average 350-400 mmcf/d, up from approximately 180 mmcf/d in 2010. Marcellus production was 315 mmcf/d at year end. ... "

What do we think this will do to Tioga Co? Could it mean less for us or  that they are managing their business. I can't imagine they'll let the wells sit and not produce..maybe that is the targeted amount for this area at this time?
For people in my area (NE TC), it probably means that they'll continue to wait for Talisman to get the gathering lines in to market the gas from their shut-in wells.  Which is not necessarily a bad thing with the price of gas so low.
Wondering what that means in the way of "time frames"..
Strictly a guess, but I think the people I mentioned waiting for Talisman royalties will be waiting another year.  Checking Landex, they have filed only one Declaration from Nov. 1 to now.  But, Seneca has filed seven, all around Covington.  So it all depends on the company and the location.  Periodically check eFacts for drilling and pipeline (E&S) permit applications and Landex for leases, declarations, etc. in your area.
I read today that Talisman led all drillers in PA in 2010 with 200 wells drilled. They were followed by Chesapeake with 131, Range with 121, East Resources Inc. with 104(not sure if that number includes wells drilled by ERM operating name) and Us Energy Development Corp. with 101. All wells were drilled into the Marcellus for the companies listed.
