Thanks.
looks like they may be starting that plant on blizzard. saw two big machines in field on thanksgiving. they dug two big holes out in the middle of the field on friday and utility workers were there yesterday.
Saw 12 men, more equipment, and Utility signs too....here it comes.
Curious if any additional activity at the Kinder/Markwest site on Blizzard ridge?
Hi, I wasn't "shooting the messenger" - just saying that sometimes we sound like the gold-rushers, focusing only on the prize and not the impact, cost, liabilities. I am grateful to you for posting the news. We all need as much information as possible, and I am hopeful that we all take time to reflect on both long and short range impacts of each bit of news.
I do disagree with the statement that "this is just the way business works in this country." as that is as subject to change as all life is! It used to be "just the way business works in this country" to have slaves and child labor in sweat shops and only white men could own property. Thankfully others disagreed with that business-as-usual paradigm and put their own self-interests on hold while they worked against the odds to create a better world for the next guy...and gal... I applaud those who know more scientific and legal facts than me and may be doing the same kind of conscientious work now. I am comfortable with my own evolving ethics but sure could use a deeper, wider comprehension of the overall, entire plan, operations, impact of this new "gold rush" - not that any one party even knows what that may be., and I am certain the corporations want to keep it that way for as long as they can. Their money is made in the dark, and we saw that with the first round of land grabs a few years ago when they offered $250 an acre as opposed to the $5500 an acre they may now offer, now that we know better. So, please keep those informative postings coming! Thank you.
Wow, don't make up stuff that is not going to happen. We live 2 miles from the Kensington Cryo UEO Plant and all the things you are worried about ... well I am sitting in a pitch black family room with two giant 12 foot high windows facing towards the plant and well its quiet and pitch black. Now on the other side of our house if I went to look out my dining room window well all that light would be from WalMart in Salem over 12 miles away. Also we have been parked right next to the plant watching as things develop and the birds were still chirping and were free ... now in the WalMart they are trapped inside flying around trying to figure out how to get back out and crapping on my food probably or eating from it.
any update?
Kinder Morgan/Markwest has not done much work there yet Paul. If they want this plant to be in service in 2014 they better get moving along. The binding open season for their Utica Marcellus to Texas NGL Y grade pipeline to the Gulf ends February 28th. Maybe they are waiting on the results from that.
I found this article the other day about what the Tusc county commissioner testified before the House Ways and Means about severance tax revenue distribution to their communities.
Commissioner Abbuhl is concerned about whether Tuscarawas County will have the funding available to handle the infrastructure side effects that come along with the $500 million oil and gas processing plant being constructed there by Kinder Morgan.
"With that type of investment and the jobs that it will create we want to make certain that we can meet the needs of that company," he said.
He estimated the plant will require water and sewer upgrades costing up to $3.5 million.
"It would be very unfortunate if the county were unable to fund a water and sewer project that would enhance economic development in our county due to a lack of available funding," he said.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
