Survey-What's the biggest risk to residing land & mineral owners?

Hey ya'll,

Just wondering how folks will answer this question. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against drilling, I want the reserves developed (but it's up to my Mom), just want to make sure no one suffers in the process!!

So if your a surface owner as well as a mineral rights owner and live on on the same property, what's your biggest concern about the prospect of drilling on your property?

Getting the most bonus money?

Getting the most gas royalty?

Irrevocable damage to the surface property?

Loss of your drinking water supply (domestic or livestock)?

Other?

As in my case I looked for protection for 1st my groundwater and wells, then my surface land, timber, fences, farm roads, gates, and  stock ponds.

As to the lease beware that a high signing bonus may draw you away from the actual body of the lease and the royalty. The real money in this oil play is in the royalties and getting a price that you and the drilling companies can live with and come to your land to drill.

You mention several issues that need to be considered, but I'm really concerned about the industrialization of my quiet country home.  Many of my neighbors have already signed pipeline right of ways that give the gas companies unlimited access to their surface, including the construction of compressor(s) stations which will cause significant noise pollution.  When these compressor stations are built, it will likely cause the value of my property to decline.  Loud 1500 HP motors running 24/7 will be a major problem for me.  Then there is the unknown size and quantity of pipeline(s) the neighbors have signed as well.  Hopefully the lines will be far away from my property.  But when your neighbors sign away their surface there is no telling how it will impact me, my property, and my way of life.
