The Courthouse would record any lease transfer (if the transfer were done properly), probably in the Recorder of Deeds Office. It might be wise to start tracking down New Penn on the Internet and over the phone to make sure they are still active.

It is hard to find much about New Penn on the web. They signed several leases with properties near to mine in Mt Pleasant twnshp in 07. The landman who did at least one of those New Penn deals was working with CHK and worked on my deal with them(CHK). Given that there is not a lot of info on this co could they be a subsidiary or a shell co of CHK or another energy co? It seems Hess is only assuming leases in Scott, Preston, Buckingham twnshps in Wayne, co. Curious to known what you find out about New Penn.

New Penn Leased the land to flip to Southwest energy. So SW probably still has all of those. Hess has a good relationship with SW. Hess is assuming the CHK leases and after doing due diligence is recording them in the court house. We have in our NWPOA lease that a company must notify the land owner but apparently CHK is not notifing people. The NWPOA is in discussion with HESS now urging them to be proactive and polite and to notify the landowners that they will now be leased by HESS. They do not have to do this but I believe they will. Hess has asked us to consider accepting the new lessors in to our property owners alliance so that there is one cohesive group. I imagine that at the next board meeting which we call Steering Committee meetings we, the NWPOA, will vote on if and how to accept the new CHK lessors as members in the property owners group.
