Seems like things are quiet in the country. Post news of activity here. I am praying that the people that signed leases get what they were promised as many in our area have spent the money they expected already.

Spent the money they expected?  I am pretty sure you are supposed to spend money after you receive it.  To do otherwise is just plain foolish and irresponsible regardless of promises.
Some people have taken anticipation loans with the land being collateral to improve their homes. I agree never spend money till it is in hand.

Range Resources is pretty much pulling out of Westmoreland and shifting their focus entirely on Washington for the time being.  They're doing this because while Washington wells generally produce less gas, they also produce "wet gas" which is sold like oil.  With oil hovering around $95-$100/barrel, it helps pad their bottom line and makes them an even more attractive target for a buyout.

In Westmoreland, anything west of Chestnut Ridge is basically Chevron's territory.

I did read that the permits with the DEP were filed on July 7th. Something about runoff. All we have up on the ridge (LOL) on our end right now is one or two residual waste tankers a day and the lots of white pickups. They trimmed and poisoned both sides of our road I wish they would fix the berm as the drop is over a foot in many places and the school buses start in three weeks.

The road is marked down by Grandview not sure what that is about. I don't think the gathering lines are all in yet. Also do you know where to find a map of the proposed pipelines?
Drove down into Shaner this week I counted seven narrow bridges that have 3 ton limits that should all be replaced. My pickup is about as big as you can get on some of them now.

David,

The Basista-Dermotta well you are speaking of is slated to begin drilling late this month.  The reason the property is so torn up is that the landowners have reneged on signing three separate site locations after verbally agreeing to them earlier.  It was supposed to be two 3 well pads until a parcel bordering the Yough failed title.  Now the eastern 3-off is going to drill and the now 2-off western pad is being held in inventory until production results are obtained.  It's a big mess and if allowed to do it all over again, Chevron (Atlas) would probably have walked away from that property.  They are honestly trying to do things right the first time around, but it's sort of like trying to carry an elephant on your shoulders with an 800 pound gorilla on its back.

By the way, Chevron is a sponsor of the county fair this year.  In the past, Atlas usually had extra passes leftover and Lessors were welcome to ask for a couple.  Also, take a ride down Route 136 past Greenawalt Furniture and see the two big flares blazing away from the Greenawalt location.

A lot of the land out here has been basically abandoned at some point and finding the actual owners can be a daunting situation.
