I don't know who you are, Matt, or how old you are, or even what you look like, but you have won my heart forever and ever.

As most Shale folks in North Central West Virginia know, the Morgantown City Council has recently banned hydraulic fracturing within the city limits and within a mile's distance beyond the city limits, citing authority granted cities under the State Constitution.

Many of us believe this action to be both unnecessary and political posturing from the liberal camp.

In this morning's The Dominion Post, Matt Allen's letter to the editor puts this situation into it's proper perspective and helps lower my blood pressure a few points.

I can't link to the letter because of subscription restrictions; nor can I copy it entirely on this site because of copyright restrictions.  I believe the folllowing excerpt, though, is a fair quote and gives the flavor of his entire letter:

"And since Morgantown’s City Council has decided to ban fracking within and beyond your legal domain (in the best interest of the public at large and future generations), I as a customer, am writing with grave concern about a pollutant that already exists within our drinking water and I am calling on this council, as the self-appointed saviors of this county’s drinking water, to react without regard to any logic or guidance.

I demand a resolution to ban this evil scourge that lies waiting to cause cancer and other evils on county citizens and our children. That substance is, estrogen. Yes estrogen."

Go Matt!  Go Marcellus!  (To read the entire letter, see the Saturday, June 25, 2011 edition of The Dominion Post.)

Kudo's, BrinLady !!!

In a world predominated by the testosterone fueled decisions of men - thank goodness they're getting a little daily dose of estrogen from somewhere...!  lol  (serves them right !)

...I wonder what their "remedy" for that might be ???

I'm with you, BrinLady, "I love you, Matt Allan of Osage !"

Sincerely,

Kit

Thanks, Kit!  That was a good one!

It is refreshing to see coverage given to opinions from the less liberal side of the street. Here in southern WV the coverage is mostly negative, parroted from other sources without regard to facts.

Unfortunately, Timothy, it's a rarity in North Central West Virginia, too.

Alas, The Dominion Post's coverage, except for that letter, has been extensive, detailed, and overwhelmingly anti-shale.

I browse the facepages of the major state dailies and some of Pennsylvania's.   None seem to dwell on the many benefits of developing this great gift to our energy future.
