Air hammer drill bit, tungsten carbide cutters.

That may be where I got the term head from. I was walking around the pad and saw them sitting out so I had to take some pictures. I saw on some fracking site that they used air on the first section of the drilling that was the only reason for the title. I am a graphic designer by trade so.... Don't take any terms I use as more then a very general description.

I just think they look really cool.

In my 30 years in the business, the only time I heard the term "Drill head" used was by Bruce Willis in "Armeggedon", when his crew was going to drill the big shot hole into the Asteroid and save Planet Earth. We called them drill bits

Jeff -

This looks to me to be a PDC (polycrystalline diamond) drill bit with no nozzels (jets) and large fluid courses between the PDC cutter buttons.

I'm not sure f I would use this with air, as air alone provides no cooling or lubricity like fluid does.

These are expensive and heavy items, so don'tdrop  it on your toe!
