- Inherited mineral rights and was approached to drill. We didn't even know our parents owned or sold the property. We've never paid any taxes for the mineral rights and don't know for sure if we do. We were told it would cost thousands of dollars to see if we actually own the mineral rights. We are unsure if we hire an attorney to represent us in negotiating if we in fact do not have the mineral rights.
