While we were still enthused from the excitement of last weekend’s Vote4Energy rally where thousands of New Yorkers came out to support natural gas, we headed to Harford Fairgrounds in Susquehanna County last weekend for the…

Yesterday’s Vote4Energy rally in New York was amazing! Shortly after we set up our booth, it started to downpour with rain we knew was desperately needed, but made us wonder if anyone was going to come to the event. We learned quickly you should never doubt the landowners of New York because they certainly didn’t let the rain stop them. Even as the rain poured down, we had people huddling under our tent to ask questions and discuss…

Four things to know about the latest Duke paper on brine in northeast Pennsylvania
One of the most under-reported aspects of the widely reported methane paper issued by Duke Univ. researchers in May 2011 was the fact that, try as they might, the authors could find no evidence of fluids from the fracturing process in, near or anywhere close to shallow sources of drinking water underground.
Of…

Today we celebrate the most important day in our nation’s history, our Independence Day, when the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the day that changed us from colonists to Americans and proud citizens of the United States. Today, 236 years later, Pennsylvania is still at the forefront of the fight for our freedoms,…

My favorite part of the Fourth of July festivities is definitely the fireworks extravaganzas. Growing up, my family would go down to Wegman’s parking lot for the annual “Set the Night to Music” display in Williamsport, and to this day when I hear the song “Proud to Be An American,” I get excited thinking of the grand finale.
What I never thought about while I was “oohing” and “awing” was how they make such amazing, vibrant colors-at least not until the other day when someone sent me…

This past Saturday was the 3rd Annual Northern Tier Marcellus Business Expo at Alparon Park in Troy, Pennsylvania. As in years past, the event was a great opportunity for many local businesses to promote themselves and local residents to…

Benzene is one of those chemicals we hear about often in the discussion over natural gas development. It is said to be leaking from compressor stations and polluting our air, by those opposed to the development of this clean burning resource. Realistically, not only have benzene levels been proven to have little or no connection to shale gas development but…

For those of us who have been participating in the natural gas debate over the last few years, talking with anti natural gas folks can feel like you’ve been placed in a scene from the movie “My Girl.” It’s a classic from my childhood and one I loved and still love to watch, but let’s face it, Veda’s method of dealing with hard times and things she doesn’t want to hear wasn’t the most constructive behavior. Yet, in this discussion, I often feel like I’m watching an adolescent stick their…

During a congressional briefing this week Dr. Anthony Ingraffea offered his opinions on onshore natural gas development to an audience composed largely of congressional interns and environmental activists. Cornell staff made clear Ingraffea’s remarks were his own when they mentioned they weren’t reflective of the University. At the time I thought it was a standard disclaimer, but it turns out there was good reason for its use as Ingraffea quickly launched into a tirade.
It was one…

Last week, the Town of Delaware, New York, Sullivan County passed the recommended natural gas resolution composed by the Joint Landowners Coalition affirming their commitment to allow safe, responsible natural gas development in their community. Residents in Delaware feel they should be able to choose what they do with their property and mineral rights. A landowner’s property is their biggest asset and investment, something we all work to improve and hold on to. These residents are more than…

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) and Physicians, Scientists and Engineers for Healthy Energy (PSE) released a ten point document criticizing the SGEIS. This is the second part in a two part series examining that document which serves as an example of why environmental activists are having difficulty maintaining support in New York.
They say that necessity is the mother of all invention, watching the debate over natural gas development in New York it becomes apparent…

No, Truthland hasn’t been shown in New York City, at least not officially, although a recent fear-inducing endeavor by Fox leads us to believe it’s certainly being watched in the Big Apple. This screening, co-sponsored by the Northern Wayne Property Owner’s Alliance and Energy Citizens, took place at the Beach Lake Fire Hall in Wayne County, about four miles away from the Fox family property (his father owns it). Around 100 people came out to watch the movie and get their questions answered…

July 15, 2012 | Vote4Energy Rally Broome Tioga Sports Center, 50 Schaffer Road, Richford, NY 13835
On July 15 landowners and industry will be joining together for the largest pro-natural gas rally in New York state. Landowners have spent four years waiting for Albany to allow the harvesting of our deeded rights. While we have been waiting, we have witnessed a fear mongering campaign that exceeds Y2K and the great Alar scare combined. Yet, we’ve kept on correcting…

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
