Washington County, Pennsylvania is a regional leader in business growth, tourism and job creation, all thanks to the Marcellus Shale and natural gas development.
The Washington County, Pennsylvania website states “No matter what you want to do, you can do it right here. Shop until your heart’s content, or spend your days outdoors. Whether you like history, sports or entertaining, we are ready to share the energy.” They’re correct!
And share the energy they will. In 2004 Range Resources pioneered the Marcellus Shale with the successful drilling on the Renz #1 well. Since then Washington County has invested nearly half a billion dollars in infrastructure and economic development, ranking the county No. 1 in Pennsylvania for number of shale gas wells drilled and No. 2 in natural gas production.
