- We (my siblings) and I were contacted approximately a year ago by a genealogist regarding mineral rights that we supposedly inherited from my Grandfather. We were told that it was on property that was no longer in his name but the mineral rights were. He has passed away and so has my father. So were told that we were next in line.
She did what seems an extensive search for surviving family members. She said that she was hired by a gas / oil company but that she could not give us the name of the company.
The only information that she gave us was that it was in Greene County and it was in the Marcellus formation. I have contacted her several times and she says that she has finished her search for family members and that the oil / gas company should be getting in contact with us. It has been well over a year and we have not hear anything from anyone. How do I get more information? How do I find out exactly where this property is and if it is being drilled on? How do I found out who actually owns the property? I have been told also that drilling could already be taking place even without our consent as mineral rights owners. I guess I am just looking for MORE information in general. Please help put me on the right path.
