- I was signed to a gas lease by Chesapeake in 2006 on my farm in the Finger Lakes of New York. The lease ran out of its own accord, but Chesapeake invoking force majeure attempted to keep the lease (without any compensation) until the State of New York ruled against them, having in my case to surrender the lease at the end of 2013.
