I looked in the sky and it is orange. Oh yes I have seen this before only its a lot bigger, what I drove down the road to see was the utica well being flared off on the patterson well. It had to be four or five times the size of the marcellus well flare which was in of itself a pretty good one. This well has a marcellus and a utica on it as a"test well". Looks like they passed the test. It is amazing and really hot from afar. It was raining and so as the flame was taller than the flare pipe, the groud was steaming all arond.

Tetra is doing the Well Testing. Steel tanks are usually for oil and fiberglass tanks are normally used for water. Flaring gives shell an idea of what type of production the well will have. I have been doing Well Testing for the past few years in 5 different states and in 7 different shale plays.

Thanks for the pics Mike!
So is there an open pit frack pond at this site or is all the frack fluid, both new & watse, kept inside the tanks? We are in the process of signing with Shell here in northern Butler County so I am interested in how they conduct their operations at their well sites.
From what they have had done here Southern Lawrence County there are no complaints. Here are some pic from this year drilling pond and fracing.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
