I am interested in talking with people from Columbiana County who are trying to negotiate a lease. I am currently trying but I am a small parcel (1.5 acres). My water was tested and they said a well is to be drilled within 3000' of my property. Need help in this matter.
Thanks

Dale,
Exactly what chemicals was your water tested for?
Is it too late to join a landowners group in your area?
Does CHPK need your land to form a Production Unit for that well that is 3,000' from you?
1.5 Acres could be small enough to "Drill Around" and not get you leased for a while.
GES tested our water and some other neighbors and the results have not come back. They tested on behalf of CHKP and stated that it was because activity was going to be started and would be within 3000' feet of our property. I am trying to locate a group and am willing to participate for leverage which I now do not have - due to a small parcel. The water testing is why I am now interested and since I know activity is near. Do not know if my property is needed? Do you know how I might find out if I am needed to form a production unit. What do you mean that they could drill around? My real concern is that I do not want to be forced pooled - yet a proposed lease was based on net and hardly any attachements for protection - which I did not like and did not sign. Some of my neighbors are going to sign ( in a rush for the bonus without having done much due dilligence).
I would get an attorney to represent you individually at this point. I think the group option has probably passed at this point. If they are to the point of testing the water, the permit is probably pulled so unfortunately they have the leverage.
Do you know where the well is to be located?
What do you mean by the permit already being pulled?
The permit the driller (CHPK) gets from OHIO DNR which allows them to drill the well.
If you are 3,000' due East or due West of the well then 99% chance you are not in the Production Unit for this specific well. Maybe, a future well will pass nearer to your property.
"... Forced Pooled ? ..."
I doubt it.
You would have been notified and very aware of that type of action by now.
Why didn't you sign with any Landowners Group, yet?
The terms of a Group Lease are usually much better than a lease for just 1.5 acres.
I am not sure Forced Pooling is allowed for HORZ wells and private individuals.
Which township?
Then I can tell you which wells are nearby.
I am in Fairfield Township, Columbiana County. I was not even thinking about leasing until the water testing was done and they said activity was to start ( the testers only knew activity to be within 3000' of my property and no idea of when said activity would start). A group of us small acres tried but was turned down due to the small acreage. What about north and south?
Dale,

How do I get into Columbiana County? I am new to this and am learning. I go to Columbiana County but nothing comes up. I have tried to friend Patrick but no response yet. Does he have to accept me before getting in?
How did you get the google map?
Thanks for all your help.
Dale - I think you can just join the Columbiana county group. Will be listed under the state. Let me know if you are able...
I am sure you are talking about the Ward well. I live very close to that well also.
There is discussion on the Columbiana county forum. I am not sure we can be of help.... The well site is the corner of SW corner of Kelly Park and Fairfield School Rd. I would guess you are North of that site?
Utica shale can you tell me how you were able to locate the jean ward well and the google map. I have tried but no luck.
thanks

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
