We are in Susquehanna Co. PA. We have a drilling site with in a mile of us and the rig just went up today. Approximately how long does it take to know if we are in this specific drilling unit/pool? When I called our local Cabot rep a few weeks ago she said not until after the well is drilled & they will contact us via letter in the mail. I'm just wondering approximately how long from the time the rig goes up until the well is completely drilled.

We are in a unit in Clinton County PA, I found out we were in a unit by calling the company and asking, After the permits were pulled in April of 2011. Don't know when they actually started driiling the wells in the unit we are in,( Because we do not live near the drilling we live in Berks County) but the first royalty payment showed up mid February 2012, with no notification of any kind before hand. Nice surprise to get!!
LMS, I found out by using www.landex.com and paying for a copy of the recorded documents which list the unit size, etc. The oil company didn't and hasn't bothered to contact us at all about being in a unit...I had to call them even after a year later. So don't wait for them...call your county courthouse or use landex. It is that they have to record the unit with the county. Of course some people have oil companies that care so not all are alike in their lack of respect towards the Lessor.
I think the regulation requires them to test if the surface hole location of the gas well is within a 1000 feet of a drinking water well.
Our driller Anadarko however tested all wells in the unit as a base line for future reference. I would say the water test is a good sign!
Bump!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
