No doubt the man who said he was going to attract busines to Ohio is doing the complete opposite! Goodbye gas drilling! "We believe that by modernizing our energy taxes, we can allow all 11.5 million Ohioans frankly to benefit," Kasich said.
More taxes? He said he was going to lower taxes! What a Socialist!

No it's not wealth redistribution. Dont forget it's the first line of debate not the final draft. Kasich also took a very active role in making Ohio a player and open for business. Unlike Casey over here who likes to send telegrams and letters with flowers to the Oil Companies and schedule sleepovers at the White House for a ring kissing session to try and get things done. The big companies have made a commitment to Ohio, this type of long term commitnent comes with a price, they can take their money and put it anywhere they want. It's called business and he is making it happen. I suspect your bias is because he is a Republican and successful, and makes tough choices that not everyone is pleased with, like they guy from Wisconsin and the Gov. of New Jersey. The Name calling gives it away. Ohio will go Red in the fall, and we will all sleep better, you can't stop it by crying on here. Maybe if you can get Kasich out the Mob will come back to Youngstown!!!
First of all you are skirting the issue with this PA, NJ whitehouse smoke screen. He is going to tax an industry solely because it is successful and give that tax money to the general public (maybe). What he has done in any other case is not this case. I live in Pennsylvania and Corbett is another sleezeball just like Kasich. My concern about what Kasich is doing is universal to the fact that what happens in Ohio can impact PA. Taxing wells drilled is akin to taxing tree planting on the hope that it will be sold for timber in the future!
How will the residents of Ohio and Pa. benefit when the oil and gas companies decide to not drill in Ohio and Pa.? Leave the wealth redistribution flag waiving alone for a minute.
How will we all benefit, when they go elsewhere.
Absolutely not! Here is my point. This is about business. Kasich ran these guys down and made a deal with them. Ohio is wide open. Do you think Cheezy-peake and the rest of the big players would have made the $$$ comitment to Ohio if they did not know exactly what they were looking at in the future for tax planning? 5-10 years from now when the production actually starts. Look at the money they have spent allready. They did so, knowing this type of tax planning from the States was coming, and they still did it.
I think PA's plan to give local governments most of the money is spot on. This let's them fix what needs fixed with A LOT more oversight from the taxpayers than if it all went to Harrisburg.
PA's plan at least spends the money in the county that collected it and not in Philawelfareia and other places that have no stake in the gas drilling. Believe me they wanted their "fair share" of the new found wealth.
Kasich has cost Ohio the Shell Cracker Plant. It looks like they have decided on Pennsylvania.
WTF are the impacts? You are really skewed. So all businesses that prosper are going to get a new special tax levied on them. You must be drunk to think this tax is fair. You missedthe point. Why is he picking on the gas drilling industry? Socialism! All industries have impacts and that is accouonted for in revenue collected as income tax, capital gains, etc.
Democratic Operative. If Kasich is bad all R's are bad and not to be believed. Keep at it.
No Elnatan, the Dem. operatives use repitition in their public arguements and always cite one of their own to establish credibility. Then keep going back to it. Part of the Obama Truth Squad.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
