Below is the news blurb from the Star Gazette. The Mansfield meeting happened already a couple days ago but I believe the March 20th will have to do with work closer to Wellsboro. Is anyone going?
Shell Appalachia will hold a series of community town hall sessions in Tioga County, Pa., to discuss 2012 field development plans and to answer community questions.
Sessions are planned for:
-- 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 13, at the Mansfield Fire Department Banquet Hall at 381 S. Main St.
-- 6 to 8 p.m. March 20 at the Tioga County Fairgrounds, 2258 Charleston Road, Wellsboro.
-- 4 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 27 at Mount Zion Retreat Center 287 Zion Road, Roaring Branch. (Two sessions will be held because of limited space at the center.)

I cannot go but I know at least one person who will be there. I wonder if anyone will discuss the proposed plant above Pittsburgh as well as the newer topic of "super fracking". I am curious about the Inactive Status also. I have also seen permits that look like extra permits for H wells where there is the initial drilling permit and then a 2nd for special waste removal? - I have wondered why some have those and others do not.
did you happen to go to the meeting? I can not get an answer from anyone regarding if they are going to drill near old rt 15 in Mansfield Pa? Do you know if any drilling is going on up there?
Thank Yoy,
Brian Martin
I am planning on attending the 3/37 meeting in Roaring Branch. I am assuming the "Texas Creek" project area they mentioned (sun-gazette article) is the one in Pine Township, Lycoming County. I Know the area well, as I have property there. The Texas Creek begins in Texas (listed on only a few PA maps) and heads south to RT 284. Its about 15-16 miles due west of Roaring Branch. There have been new ROW markers for pipelines placed in the area in the last 6 months as well as a Shell lease offer to an unleased property. If someone knows any different location for the Texas Creek area that Shell might be developing, I would appreciate the feedback. Wouldn't want to waste the hour and 1/2 drive from home, with the current price of gas.

Shell has listed a number of, if not all, projects in Union Twp., Tioga Co., as Texas Creek Projects. In 2006, a seismic was done and was called The Texas Creek 3-D. I have a picture of the chart from the command trailer on site showing this name. This covered the area roughly between Canton and Liberty, going a bit beyond each town and roughly bounded by Route 414 near Canton on the north and east and Route 14 on the south.
Don't know why they named things as such, but I do know Texas Creek is near The Texas Blockhouse hunting club.
I don't know why Shell picked Mt Zion, but it is on a narrow, steep dirt road and I can't imagine the parking situation or seating. I would assume they looked at the facility before picking it, but it is nowhere as convenient as the fairgrounds building or the Mansfield fire hall.
Thanks for the reply Ann. I had read the same info on another forum that the Roaring Branch meeting is going to be about the local area between Liberty and Canton. The "Texas Creek" area is mostly leased by Anandarko, they have leased the Texas Blockhouse and drilled a well off RT 284 a few years back. My property (unleased) is the donut hole between Shell leases to my north and east, and Anandarko leases to my west and south. I'll probably skip the meeting, to far to drive up and back. The person at Shell that named the projects "Texas Creek", probably is from Texas and needed a reminder of home. Can't blame them for that!!
Thanks again,
Mark (schubike)

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
