Rumor I recently heard was that Chesepeake Energy is looking around for a building in Portage County. I hear they are going to drill a lot in NE Ohio. Anyone else hear this?

We have been contacted by another O&G recently that is trying to buy into the unleased Portage Properties, and also heard of more Seismic Testing activity in the county: Precision Geophysical and Appalachian Geophysical. But have not heard anything about Chesapeake looking for a building.

I had a family member receive an offer of $2-25 an acre to allow seismic testing on their unleased land. Not sure how it works once your land is leased.

Chesapeake will open a regional office somewhere in northeast Ohio within a year or so.
CHK is selling all of their acreage in Portage county so I doubt that they'd be setting up shop there.

I would like to know too where you are getting your information that CHK is selling all of their Portage County acreage especially since they did a major Lease Assignment (25% interest) with Enervest this time last year.
