Permalink Reply by Billy Park Whyde on July 6, 2012 at 2:59pm Lisa, first of all you will not get royalties if you land is not leased. Secondly the depth of the well they are drilling has a bearing upon it as well as direction if it is a horizontal well.
I will assume you are in Ohio where to drill into say a Clinton Formation it requires a 20 acre tract of land so it is possible that only the owner of the 20 acres will get anything. It could be a well that is unitized with other property as well.
Not trying to be nibby but if you would put your proximity in here some one will look for the permit for the well which will spell out the story better.
