Some of you folks probably don't get the Akron Beacon Journal but a reporter named Bob Downing has been writing some interesting articles about the Utica drilling.
Gas exploration sparks economic surge in Carroll County

"Other counties with permits are Tuscarawas (seven)"
"The company (CHK) has boosted the number of drilling rigs in Ohio from five to eight this year. It may have as many as 20 rigs in Ohio by late 2012 and 40 by 2014, the company said."
"Ohio is expecting as many as 4,000 wells drilled into the Utica shale in the next four years as more rigs are moved into the state. Site preparation takes three to four weeks. Drilling takes three to five weeks more. Fracturing a well takes seven to 10 days."

I got a Member Moratorium email from Keith Mauck that will "analyze who we want our fellow members to be and how to deal with those who we don’t". Not sure if he is talking about me or not, but I will keep on posting because I am egotistical enough to think he means somebody else.
I was surprised to see that there is still permits issued for Marcellus. So totals are (302) permits with (99) drilled. Marcellus still has a much higher percentage of producing wells (4) out of (17) than the Utica which only has (14) producing wells out of (285) permits. Utica also has (12) completed wells, but not producing (waiting for pipelines?) and (64) drilled (but not yet fracked?)

I will have to sign off of this blog for a while. Sorry folks, I just don't have much time to keep contributing. I am retiring, moving, selling one house and buying another. Just don't have the spare time to do this any more. Maybe I will start another one in a few months "if my well comes in". Hope yours will too.
