I am not surprised to see the attacks on Obama and the so-called war on coal but it is not Obama that will put coal on the back burner of energy. It is natural gas. No coincedence that coal has been waning as gas has become cheap, clean and abundant. This will continue into the far future so the smart thing for the coal industry is to invest in the gas reserves in this area. Put down the shovels and start drilling. Save lives, save the environment and save America from middle east oil.

Try powering your car with coal...HaHaHa.
Hitler almost took over the world running on coal, we have had the means of turning coal into liquid fuel for 80 years.
HaHaHa the car for Pa. ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUgVCR_658M
An update on this vehicle. The world’s oldest running motor car, a historic 1884 De Dion Bouton et Trepardoux Dos-a-Dos Steam Runabout, entered the history books, on October 6, 2011, selling for an impressive $4.62 million before a packed house at RM Auctions’ Hershey, Pennsylvania sale.
Personal attacks? Someone please tell him the rules here.
There's nothing personal about what I said. What will you do to help those people?? After they lose their jobs, give us some ideas?
Let the free marked decide what do use and when..not regulations.
Make you rich? Obama has you targeted locked on and is ready to fire a TAX BILL upon you that you will cry about! This class warfare Obama has produced is a 50/50 war. To those that supported Obama the rich are anyone that has more than they do.
I recall the the Windfall profits Tax the democrats in the Carter term passed. It was a well head excise tax that had nothing to do with the final product price. It taxed some landowners at 60% .
Lets do some math oil at say $100/bbl income tax at (OBAMAS WISH TO BE 39%) plus a new Windfall profits tax of 60% lets you make a $1/bbl before state taxes!
An old saying be careful of what you wish for !
Coal cannot compete at this point. Put down the shovels and learn to weld pipe or work on a drilling rig. Game over. The rules are the same for both. Coal is dirty and has had its' day. there is a new gas power plant to be built in Lawrence county. Clean gas!T
Where I live, we have the cheapest electricity in a 4 county area which comes from a municipal power plant in the nearest town. A good friend is on the board for the municipal utilities. They use coal and have already determined that they can not afford to convert the plant to natural gas because the investment would require them to sell us power at a rate higher than they can purchase it for us. There ARE places where coal is appropriate just as there are places where nuclear, hydroelectric, wind, and natural gas are appropriate. Putting our eggs completely in the natural gas basket would be foolish and narrow minded.
Wake up and smell the clean energy!

Are you serious? A natural gas monopoly? Do you not understand that competition causes the competitors to more efficiently produce their product and continuously streamline and improve the process or go out of business? This results in a better value for the consumer. A monopoly by one industry would stifle improvements and discourage them from striving to "stay ahead of the competition". Natural gas and coal and hydroelectric and wind and solar and nuclear and bio-fuels and ??? should ALL compete with each other to produce the cheapest, safest, cleanest power for the people of these United States. Each has their place, and each should be utilized.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
