Oil/ Gas Rights vs Mineral Rights

 

 

Just getting started on this site, hopefully someone can clear a few things up. In PA. what is the legal differance between oil/gas rites AND mineral rites? Does Marcellus and Utica drilling fall under mineral or the gas/oil rites.

 

Any help is appreciated.

I own Oil & Gas rights in Clearfield County & Butler County Pa alone and I am being taxed.  I guess I will give the countys a call!

Both Clearfield & Butler Counties have a tax on severed coal rights. Do you also own the coal rights?

No.  Very few people own the coal rights in many of the PA counties. However, I do own the mineral rights which include all other minerals except coal and that maybe is were they are able to tax me.
