Im in Susquehanna County, Pa and my gas lease with Cabot O/G is going to expire in less than 6 months and I have not been contacted by the gas company for renewal. There are wells all around my property within a 2-3 mile range with the same gas company that holds our lease. How do I go about finding out if they will renew or not?

are you sure that your property is not alrady included in a unit. Contact Cabot landman in your area.If you go to our local courthouse you will be able to see if you have been included into unit already. Good luck hope you make it to get a new lease. I have seen people that had less the 6 hrs. to go on thier lease and chk pulled the bore drill in the dozers through the mud just to spud the well. Landowner tried to video this but they shined light on her so her couldn't video it.
I am not sure because no permits show up under our name on Landex which has county files listed. Did the landowner you mentioned have an older lease at a lower sign on rate?
yes they were held to the old lease thats 12% and no signing bonus either. CHK has done this to alot of people in this county. The farm next to us( the live out of state) was tied into our well pad just a day before their lease ran out. I was not aware of that. He didnt sign with the group back in 05, he tried to hold out for more money which didnt happen and screwed him out of signing bonus. The premitted would be from the pads around you. You need to look and see if any of the existing pads have well legs that run through your property. Just have to look up the property owner name or well pad name if it is different to find a Declairation of polled unit for each the south and north units. That will tell you is you are in a unit or not. They drill nw or se so I would start with the closes well pad first. The only reason a permit would be in your name is if you had a well pad on your property.
We are from out of state so are not that familiar with county resources. Could you give us any info to help us see if we are in a unit. We received a letter over a year ago from Cabot offering to have our water tested so we agreed. We were also surveyed by Cabot and Southwestern. Our property is divided by a highway and it seems that Southwestern is on one side of the street and Cabot is on the other.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
