I doubt that anyone requested the survey.  These seismic companies are independent and  pick "hot spots" where they think they can sell data.  Their business plan is to collect data, and then sell it to 5 to 7 different companies over the next decade. Usually the first sale will result in covering their costs and then the rest of the sales are pure profit.

We had a 3D done on our property. Before signing for anything made them get a letter from the company that heald our lease. The letter stated that the seismic was for that company.

Before the 3D another seismic company tried to get us to sign off on a 2D and we said no.
