Is there a general rule of thumb on how far from the horizontal hole that a unit boudary is drawn. I know it probably depends on geology, but when they frack there must be a common distance from the bore where they draw the unit size when they are doing their pre-drilling planning.

Permalink Reply by Joseph-Ohio on April 4, 2013 at 4:08am That's what I saw on the diagrams within the posts.
There were also multiple laterals shown on the diagrams.
Some of the latereals shown were 7000' long.
That's all I got.

Permalink Reply by Oliver Perry on April 4, 2013 at 4:17am There sure are, I think PA should have a minimum 250' set back but there is none at all.
Permalink Reply by landowner on April 4, 2013 at 4:25am So back to my original question, since in PA there are no minimum setbacks, and I already know the location of the vertical and horizontal bores, I guess the 640 acres could go anywhere. The drilling permits are not all approved yet, so the unit has not yet been recorded, so I will have to wait until the unit gets recorded to know for sure.
Permalink Reply by Oliver Perry on April 4, 2013 at 4:49am I assume you are interested in the Ceaser 1H & 2H units? How do you know the location of the horizontal bores, do you have the well plats?
Permalink Reply by landowner on April 4, 2013 at 4:53am Not sure what I have, but it has the vertical and horizontals, but the unit lines are not complete or official, at least the copy I have.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
