Apparently the idea of a cracker plant in Wood Co. is alive and well. Does anyone know if this is a proposal that may be originating with a new company, Appalachian Resins?

Another article on possible cracker plant for WV; it is not looking positive.
Permalink Reply by searcherone on August 27, 2013 at 1:27pm Check the Antero Resources August presentation page 21 "Integrated Marcellus and Utica Midstream Infrastructure" It is mostly Markwest processing plants. With two symbols for proposed ethane crackers: Shell in Pennsylvania and this name I haven't heard before: Braskem proposed ethane cracker site. location Wood County, WV.
What does anyone know about this or this site? Number of acres? Location appears to be located right on Ohio River, nothing like barge transportation. If this were to happen lots more pipelines would be needed for access to this site.
Permalink Reply by searcherone on September 5, 2013 at 2:41am The WV Governor continues to talk about a cracker for his state, but then this article goes into more about education than a cracker. But hey, I don't hear Gov. Kasich talking about a cracker for Ohio.
Permalink Reply by searcherone on September 8, 2013 at 2:07am Governor Earl Tomlin of West Virginia has commented this morning, Sunday September 8, 2013, on the West Virginia TV program, State Journal, that the possibility of a cracker in Wood County continues. Tomlin says they are working to "nail down the feedstock for long term contracts".
My comment: apparently this one in Wood County and the proposed Shell one in Pa are at the same stage in development: securing feedstock with contracts.
Permalink Reply by Trapper on September 8, 2013 at 2:37am Interesting news. Coinciding with Shell's news of seeking Ethane contracts , sounds like you may be correct about the parallel in stages of development. Who is this Braskem?
Makes me wonder.....just how liquids rich are we really? These stacked plays must be rising stars on the radar screens of the industry. Maybe more lucrative than oil? The Post Gazette wrote that Shell will show bidders their plans for the cracker if they sign a non disclosure agreement first. Sounds like a little competition for the resource is brewing and that can only be a good thing for the royalty recipient!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
