I was leaving the library the other day and picked up a couple of magazines from the free pile. One was the May 2013 issue of Atlantic Monthly and the featured article was by Charles Mann the author of the books titled 1491 and 1493. I really liked those books which are about the new world before Columbus and after. They are well researched and give a better and more honest accounting of history than the history books I studied in school. So I was a little surprised to see this author writing about current and future energy topics. The article discusses methyl hydrate or burning ice that has been mentioned on this site a few times. Here is a well researched article which won't make your eyes glaze over with pages of numbers and terms you don't know, but is surprisingly enjoyable to read.
