I think if the lateral does go under the interstate the state of Ohio will be in that unit and get paid accordingly...  Why not?

AEU drill new well ST permit yesterday for Red Hill Farms Well in Madison Township Section 1.

TM; why aren't theses permits listed on ODNR's list of new permits? Do you have other means of finding this info?

I find them on the county engineers under reports on the ODNR database. There is not a horizontal permit yet for this Red Hill Farms well just a vertical strat permit to the Trenton. Some companies apply for the strat vertical then they apply for the horizontal lateral at a later date.

Also it takes awhile until ODNR posts them on the cumulative spreadsheet from when the company applied for the permits. Sometimes it might take a few weeks to a month before they show up on the ODNR weekly permits.

thx,I'll check it out.

TM; I cant seem to access the Guernsey county engineers reports. Their website only has one page, with an address only. Do you have to be in that system someway to access?

Bo, the county engineers report is on the ODNR database  http://oilandgas.ohiodnr.gov/mineral/OHRbdmsOnline/WebReportAccordi...

Click on the + sign next to reports, then click on the county engineers report.  You can the search by date, county, twp. etc.

What the scoop about the interstate property included in drilling units? Are the acres that make up the interstate hi-ways included in drilling units and do the states get paid accordingly?

I still own the minerals under the interstate in Center Township, the highway has a right of way but I still own the minerals. My lease with Gulfport has that acreage included.

I looked up a miscellaneous parcel of interstate highway property on a county auditors website and found the following:

"OWNER" is listed as "STATE OF OHIO"

But under the "LAND" tab the "TYPE" is listed as "RW-RIGHT OF WAY"

So do they actually own the land to the center of the earth or just the surface? Do they own the land at all.

Should the answers to these questions be universal and the same for everyone or were there different/specific agreements made with landowners when the interstate system came through?

Very interesting. I would like to know.
I would imagine it had to do with whether the landowner negotiated with the state for a ROW or if the state was forced to steal that particular stretch of land through Emenant Domain.

If a ROW was agreed upon, then I would think the landowner retains minerals, but if the land was forcebly taken, then I would think minerals went with it.

These are just speculations mind you.
