Any plug and abandon permits filed for this well on file at ODNR. We had a well from 70's on our property in another county from where we live listed as active well on ODNR but I knew well tanks had been removed and it was not producing. Neighbors there informed us at the beginning of all this in 2010 that oil company was out snooping around even brought a tank back out. I found lease in recorders office there. Not marked as released. Perfect opportunity for company to screw us and neighbors as this farm was broken up and sold in the 80's.

A little different because we got no checks. But three uncompleted plug and abandon permits helped us. We called company which I knew who it was. Make sure you get all the papers ... transfers ... filed on your lease at recorders office so you have current owner of lease. We basically gave them holy hell. We asked why they had not completed any of the plug and abandons. Couldnt find it....BS...you found it a month ago to bring out a tank and swab it. We sent them a certified letter demanding plug and abandon be completed, all the pipe lying around be picked up, reclaim land after you are done, letter releasing lease filed at recorders office, status on odnr changed from active to abandoned. We were able to do this without an attorney because we had ammunition and they realized quickly they would lose. But if they had stalled we had an attorney lined up. Oh we also had production records from ODNR. Just because you got a check does not mean they reported production. These companies did all kinds of crap to trick people into renewing dead leases for $50 sometimes and not per acre just $50. If you cant find stuff on odnr I may be able to help. You need api well number. Then get production records from well card and look for plug and abandon permits. All your papers from recorders office showing transfers. Are others affected by lease. We contacted them too. Someone in engineers office was able to help us with old map vs new to see who owned pieces of the old farm now. Good luck.
