As 2014 limps to a close, I propose an unofficial contest to nominate the song that best describes the 2014 Marcellus/Utica Experience.

Rules:

The contest ends at Midnight, December 31st.

You can submit as many entries as you choose to.

The winner to be chosen by our Publisher (Keith Mauck); if he is willing to accept that daunting challenge, (otherwise it will have to be me).

The Prize: one Cyber Ham Sandwich (and bragging rights).

My first entry: A song many of us can relate to,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahAOU1HZXlc

My second entry: A sad song about trying to get out of a lease with Chesapeake Energy,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S9ecXWCBCc

Can you match (or better) either of these entries?

Maybe the whole song doesn't apply but the first part is fitting for a chesepeake leasholder

Spicolis theme by Jimmy buffet....I'm don't know how to link but you can Google it .....good song for all those trying to make decisions about their rights

Jack Straw,

Speaking of landmen, here is one for the landowners trying to get a hold of the landman that signed them to a lease to ask a question.

I suggest "Already Gone" by The Eagles:

Yeah I'm already gone

And I'm feelin' strong

I will sing my vict'ry song

Woo Hoo Hoo Hoo, Bye Bye, Woo Hoo Hoo Hoo

Gods gonna cut you down: http://youtu.be/ht7mxF9XZiA

This may apply to some landmen and gascos out there. ;-)

I've got a few people that I've had dealings with in the oil and gas business that I could add to that list of pictures in the video, But I'm still in a law suit against them, so can't mention any names..........

As a long suffering Trumbull ALOV member, this tune reminds me of the first rumors that BP was pulling out. Take it away Tom.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bzg6Gf6-jhs"I Need To Know"

Well talk on the street
Says you might go solo
A good friend of mine
saw you leavin' by your back door

[Chorus]
I need to know, I need to know
If you think you're gotta leave
Then you better say so
I need to know, I need to know
Cause I don't know how long I can hold on
If you're making me wait, if you're leadin' me on
I need to know

Who would've thought that
You'd fall for his (Snort's ;) line
All of a sudden
It's me on the outside

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

I need to know
I need to know
Baby, I need to know
----------------------------------
Oh well, now we do know. Next batter up?

Sage 59 I think you nailed Trumbul County! Lol.

This is what was on the radio when I first read this so I feel like I should post it??

I wonder how many can relate?

HA HA ... Leave it to Jack Straw to come up with an exciting new subject !  Can't wait to see each and every new entry !  Great Idea, Jack !

For landowners stuck in leases they wish they hadn't signed, the song _Trapped_ by Bruce Springsteen seems quite appropriate.

Well it seems like I'm caught up in your trap again
And it seems like I'll be wearin' the same ol' chains
Good will conquer evil and the truth will set you free
And I know someday I'll find the key
Then I know somewhere I will find the key
Well it seems like I've been playin' the game way too long
And it seems the game I played has made you strong
Well when the game is over, I won't walk out the loser
And I know that I'll walk out of here again
And I know someday I'll walk out of here again

But now I'm trapped! Ooh yeah!
Trapped! Ooh yeah yeah!
Trapped! Ooh yeah!
Trapped! Ooh yeahhh!

Especially this part:

Now it seems like I've been playin' your game way too long
And it seems the game I played has made you strong

I sure hope some of you "find the key".

We recently lost a unique musician in Joe Cocker. I suppose that we are all unique, but some are more unique than others. Joe was the latter. The tune kind of speaks to the ups, downs, and swings of the O&G industry. One day feeling alright, next not so good, then alright, etc.  Here's hoping the pendulum stops square on alright for most of us.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8IbIxQ2sxA
