I am seeing the phrase oil lease.  Is that just  some companies wording or are the O/G companies now signing oil leases?  Bradford county is registering oil leases - does anyone know if that means we have to lease for oil rights too or does the Gas leases also cover any oil that may be under the lands here in PA?  read that troy and canton have some oil wells.

Ours covers all..Makes one wonder why we didn't hold out for a much longer time..

Almost every lease that has ever been signed is an "oil & gas lease".

They are taking both, they condense some of the gases coming up into oil, leaving the gas vapors to be sold as natural gas, so I suspect every lease is both oil and gas.

Last news I saw some weeks ago on CNN was that currently the oil is what is saving the gas co's bottom line because natural gas is in a bit of a slump.

You should have some lease provisions regarding calculating payment for the oil in there someplace.

just seemed odd that they are listing it as "oil lease" now instead of "gas lease"
Beth, you can go to the Dept. of Enviromental Protection and check out the maps that show where Oil is in Pa..most of it is on the border of western Pa in to Ohio..Several companies have pulled away from our area to go do the Oil (where the top dollar is now) versus hunting for NG (which is low man on the totem poll right now) it is all about money..
What you lease depends on how you write your addendum not the title Oil and Gas Lease. If you sign what Landsman hands you you leased or contracted everything gas oil and hydrocarbons from surface to the center of the earth and possibly"all minerals"..
