Permalink Reply by James Vanderink on March 26, 2018 at 10:06pm Yea I’m not sure why Cabot listed the “shallow” formations. The sublease between Columbia and Cabot is for formations below the base of the Utica Shale. So basically Trenton Limestone down.

Permalink Reply by Blueflame_02 on March 27, 2018 at 12:54am Very easily could be the "Point Pleasant" as we often forget that the Utica Shale is actually an entirely different formation. But if Cabot wants some oil, it would be interesting to see them try out some horizontal Knox/Rose Run if the seismic says it's possible!

Permalink Reply by James Vanderink on March 27, 2018 at 3:32am The sublease specifically calls out the PP is part of the Utica as far as the sublease is concerned. Not sure about horizontal drilling in Roserun traps. But they are here for something and doubt they will just tell us.

Permalink Reply by Butchc on March 29, 2018 at 1:58am Probably should have it's own thread but earlier I had mentioned the horizontal drilling going on just west of Mt Gilead. They must have done OK because there is crew there installing equipment and huge pump jack, lots larger than is seen in that area it there waiting to be set.
Wouldn't a pump jack being installed this early in the game indicate a lack of pressure to drive the oil up ?

Good info looking at current and future drilling activities. This link probably should be moved to a different general thread.

Permalink Reply by Bluejack Farms on April 3, 2018 at 6:28am I just checked the Knox county recorders office. Cabot has recorded leases for another 4000 acres in the past few days.

Permalink Reply by Tom Pendergast on April 7, 2018 at 4:56am Gary, Thanks so much for this link to Pin Oak. I hadn't heard of them before. What they are doing is really exciting. I closely follow NGL production rates around the world. I have never seen results like Pin Oak is getting: 45% and 25% NGLs is incredible. Did you know that the OH/WV/PA region is the only NGL-producing area anywhere that exports NGLs, especially ethane?

| AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] | Links |
