Would like people to share information regarding use of water sources for fracking. In Bradford County area companies are approaching land owners for use of ponds and use of land to make a pond so that the companies can use it for fracking. I am curious as to the range of money being offered and the terms of the agreements being made. I think that sharing this information is important for preserving landowner rights.
I read in our newspaper today that they are trying to get another water access in Athens in the Chemung River. The article says that one of the stipulations is that they only use 1,000,000 gallons in a 24 hour period. They already have another water access down by the Susquehanna River in Ulster as well. both of these are water sources and are not supposed to be allowed for any fracking fluids to be disposed of. I am concerned with water shortages especially if we have a dry summer or year for that matter.
What makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale.
