A year ago, this forum was lit up with excitement.  Now what?  Are we landowners in this area so fickle as to only be excited with lease bonus money.  Once obtained, that is it?  Where are you James Kearns? Land leased - bonus obtained - done deal?  There is an enormous amount of things being planned, being done, by big O/G companies around here.  Has no one noticed the pink ribbons everywhere you go?  I believe there will be another round of leasing this year in trumbull.  Things are just getting started.  I have learned a lot from this forum and a great deal more from the ODNR website.  I would like to get trumbull county talking again.  I now know enough from this site alone to negotiate my own mineral rights lease and any future pipeline right of way (ROW).

MJ, do you know for sure that the pink ribbons are related to drilling? We have them on our property but I didn't know if they were tied to drilling or Ohio Edison for clearing around electric lines.
Julie, there is a lot surveying going on due the future of drilling and pipeline placement.

Julie,

I do not know for sure, but I strongly suspect there is going to be a ton of activity this year.  In fact there already is.  I will post what I see and learn.  Have a great day everyone.

I wonder where everyone went? You're right though it is quiet on the site!!!!
I talked with the asplundh guys who were cutting down trees around power lines along my road today. They said they put up the pink ribbons and it is not connected to drilling.

Julie,

I was not refering  specifically to pink strips by the road - we get that every year - but most notably thru the fields - here and there.  I do drive a lot for my work - and have just noticed things - plots being laid out perhaps?  pipelines? Things we do not know but speculate

MJ, I have only noticed them by the road around me but I don't drive around much. Sure hoping results are good in this area, we need something to boost the economy here. What area are you referring to, I may take a ride.

I hope you are right about this year MJ ....My family and I have been in a real financial mess, missed out on the ALOV signing, called and wrote letters to every O&G company I could find, nobody and I mean nobody is interested in leasing (in W. Farmington anyway). I was so desperate I even talked to them about selling the rights, they said the maps/exploration is showing the utica thinning out in this area, one company managed to offer me $800. /acre to sell, I declined. Even the O&G company that went into Southington has no interest (I'm outside their zone). Here's to all the people that managed to get theirs from BP, you might be the only ones that got the good deal.

Gracie Mae, I am not buying that West Farmington is not in a good area.  Check out this link at the ODNR web site. http://ohiodnr.com/Portals/10/Energy/Utica/Ordov-Shale_S1-Max_03-20...

That  PDF file was posted there 3/5/13, so it is current.

Thank you for that map, hadn't seen one recently, it sure looks better than anybody I've talked to would lead you to believe (in the O&G business anyway). I'm hanging in there but sure could use it now instead of later.

Does anybody know if Bob Rea/buckeye mineral is still around and if he is going to give another go at signing up landowners and working out a deal for leases w/someone like he did bp? Just curious.

If you can wait - they (landman) will eventually come knocking on your door.  My humble opinion.  I know many folks in geauga that have been approached about leasing - smaller parcels as well as large.

You can post a map, but do you know what it means?
