No Payment and No Answers!

I signed a March lease with W.....  It was a 90 day lease with a due date of August the 10th which has come and gone and i have not seen anything.  I have contacted the landman several times but they will not give me any answers as to why payment was not made.  Most of my friends had no problem with receiving payment.  I understand if there was an issue with my title they may need more time which they techincally have, but why cant they let me no what the problem is.  I"ve contacted Gulfport as well, but no luck.  Anyone have any input?

I agree it is time to talk to your attorney.  This is may be good.  Signing bonuses have gone up since March.

Yes, this could be a very good thing. Signing bonuses have gone up quite a bit and most contracts say that after the window (I assume 90 days) closes you are free to sign with someone else.

Would any regular attorney be able to handle this and dig through and resolve any potential old leases or should this be someone who specializes in oil and gas?

It really depends on if they are familiar with O&G leases. I don't think it needs to be a specialist, but at least someone who has experience with O&G.

Thanks for the information, Bob.  Mike, i signed a Wishguard Lease, i have 40 acres in Guernsey County, Madison Township, sections 1 and 10.

Have you checked with the county Recorder's office to see if they filed your lease yet? Have you called W.......'s offices and asked them directly? The landman really has very little incentive to spend any time on you once you've signed a lease. He gets paid for having people sign and once you sign, his job is done.

Thanks to all for your input.  I received answers to my questions from Gulfport in the last couple of days and we are getting things worked out.
