Sierra Club took $26 million from natural gas lobby to battle coal industry

This is the kind of thing which goes on 'under the radar' and we find one energy industry subsidizing an attack on another. Politics at it's worst!

In my mind, this does NOT make the natural gas industry look inviting and I smell a rat in the plot.  Who and what is behind this?  We know Obama et all have been against the coal industry.

How much has the Sierra Club taken from the wind industry?  Or the solar industry? Or the bio-fuel industry? What about other "environmental" groups? Or George Soros and/or The tides Foundation? Or other far left organizations?  Would be good to see a major investigation.  Is there a website that tracks all of the donations to these non-profits? Are they required to show all donations?

great questions Jim - don't know about a website but that would be pretty convenient for us, but not for them.  perhaps a little research in to clubs like these and who supports them would be worthwhile.  The so-called environmentalists should be included in the Wealth Redistribution thread in these discussion.

it's hard to get investigations going when those supporting them have the money and the power - corrupt power too.

I have a copy of the Sierra Clubs tax return for 2009 has some big donations but they leave off the donors!

No surprises as all this is generally behind closed doors.  Fair competition is what I support aka free markets.  Lobbyists...

NON profits should be made to provide FULL DISCLOSURE since they are non taxable!

It's disgusting that he gave the money and even worse that they took it.

Last week, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and five other Democrats introduced legislation to establish the "Reasonable Profits Board" with the power to directly control the profits of the oil and gas industry. Tired of Socialism?  OH, get rid of Kucinich - he's a wolf in sheep's clothing!

I found where the American Cancer Society upon their group tax returns failed to disclose about $4,000,000 in grass roots lobbying. In Calif. they reported spending $4738 to the IRS  however the Calif. Secretary of State showed in one donation a check for $637,000! Some charity watch dog websites I believe are getting paid under the table. Oh by the way the IRS was a sent a complaint about it with the information.
