Hey Billy,
I got your voice message.
Yes, we are having our meeting this Thursday at Tri Valley HS, 7-9 PM. Our group is still accepting new members so yes the public is invited. Technically our group is centered in the Southwest Coshocton and NW Muskingum Counties, but if you are close then you would be eligible to join. We hope to explain all this at the meeting, so hope you can attend.
Thanks
Jere

I really don't want to sign with G&G but i feel a landowner group is the way to go if you don't have the BIG acres for a leverage with the oil company.
David I agree with ya. However the BAD side of the Landowners Group is someone has to put their Butt on the Line as the leader of a group. With the money involved (Millions of Dollars) and how volatile conditions can be it would be a awesome task. For an example a leader gets a offer of say $5000/acre for the group and it sounds good, its a good lease, but the company fails to pay. Yikes! Is it his fault? What if a month later Big Oil pays out $7,000 an acre grr is heard from the landowners.
I tough situation.

HANOVER -- A community meeting about hydraulic fracturing is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 16 in the Licking Valley High School auditorium.
Anyone interested in hydraulic fracturing and the possibility of joining the Hanover village lease group for a Utica Shale project is encouraged to attend, Hanover Mayor Duane Flowers said.
"We are trying to gather everyone together in a lease package as a village and surrounding areas," he said. "That way, we can put in protections for wells, our infrastructure, storm water runoff, etc.
"It makes it more property owner-friendly. It's coming, one way or another. We can't stop it. There is too much money involved."
A guy at work told me about this. i was under the impression it was still G&G friendly, since the mayor has been to the last 3 G&G meeting at licking valley. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
I have no idea myself but I gave the Mayor a call and asked if he would return my call. Will advise if he calls.
The mayor called me back, the meeting is with G&G present. However the Mayor would like anyone who has questions or has some experience or knowledge to come to the meeting. The more info presented as possible problems can be addressed so that those issues can be eliminated.
For a example some landowners want to include a binding agreement that would prevent oversea investors from investing into their properties such as china. He has a point, I don't think I want to trade oil for fish head soup yet!
Well got home and the DSL was working hmm ? So I went to the meeting tonight 16 Feb 2012 6PM at Licking Valley High School. The group representing itself was G&G out of Zanesville, Ohio. There appeared to be about 100 people there at this meeting. So what did I think?
First of all thanks to the Mayor of Hanover who I believed was the main force in getting the meeting arraigned. The attendees were very cordial and were respectful in keeping order throughout the meeting.
My big complaint is that I would like to see a better formulated meeting where several groups would all participate. A two hour meeting is not enough time to really realize how important a landowner is. The possibility to gain a chance at hundreds of thousands of dollars or more is worth more than two hours. There are at the present time possibly four groups that might overlap to some degree.
In alpabetical order.
1. Energy In Depth Utica
2. Graham & Graham
3. South West Coshocton Land Owners Association
4. Virtual Energy
I think it would be advantageous that all the groups be welcome to a all day event. The reason is that a two hour meeting is not enough time to have some individuals even understand what this is about. To many in the area with 5 or 10 acres think the oil talk is for big landowners which is far from the truth.
A all day event would allow for a individual to ask more questions than possible with only a two hour meeting. I myself would like a break down presented.
1. Have perhaps a drilling company rep in a class room explaining the horizontal drilling process with perhaps a explanation of how they know where they are really drilling. Discovery Channel gave a very brief shot of this but no explanation. Perhaps a Drill bit and the tech people to explain how they can steer it.
2. Have some one from say Producers or Halliburton give a presentation in another room and video of a frack operation certainly they should have some materials for static display perhaps even bring in a pump unit to show.
3. Have separate rooms available for the different groups mentioned so that they can meet perspective members to their group and introduce themselves and their group goal and benefits they offer.
4. We have heard the Ohio Attorney General state that he wants to be involved , well your welcome too! Bring some consumer contract attorney in from you office with some training in Oil and gas leasing for landowners to ask questions about leases.
5. Have a larger room for a informal discussion of question and answers that landowners might ask so these questions might be addressed by the individuals present that might have expertise in that field. We might as well drill for all the answers we can.
6. Have the PTA or athletic boosters arrange for serving food and drink as a fund raiser for the school.
We have a lot of time left. They have spent billions already in leases and in some cases with natural gas prices being so low they will have to shift assets to acquire more lease money and drilling funds for this project.
We are only beginning people. Here's a laugh, there were about 100 people there with only about 6 individuals very softly saying we want what you 100 people have. If we can't get it from you, Big Oil will have to work for it!
United We Stand has meaning. Billy
Thanks Billie for the up date.
TW David any suggestions to the above?
I like the sound of it Billie but it would be a hard one to pull off.
very good bill, thanks for the meeting info
Was caught off guard about this meeting today 17th Feb 2012 see http://www.zanesvilletimesrecorder.com/article/20120217/NEWS01/1202...
I thought with just seeing this morning that ir would be a small meeting. Surprisingly there where probably 100 people there! The meeting itself was a break from most of the landowner meetings I have been to. This was not the same. The members of the task force told about their visit they had of in Williamsport PA area and their observations as to how the O&G and the community was interacting. From their view point they seemed to have a handle on it and felt as though that locally we could do better from knowing the history of the boom.
I passed out some notes about the website here but see no newbies feel a bit down on that end of it. Of course its hard to get rural people together unless it is happening in their neighborhood.
This below is not connected with the above meeting just a few thoughts.
I personally do not care for the take it or leave it attitude at the land owners meeting i have been to. I have seen no suggestion of a constructive meeting of were land owner input has been the focal point. We get here is the lease we are going to sell. Excuse me? Not without my name on it!
For an example I'll throw a few things out here. A surface damage clause of $3000/ acre. So they put a well pads on the adjoining neighbors property but they make ingress and egress through the middle of your pasture that is say ten acres. Question will the pay damage by the measured sq foot for the roadway or by the acres they went through? Fair question I believe. Another one was the all formations are leased. I asked after te meeting and was told well no company will buy the lease without getting all of it. Well the Utica is sure better than nothing in my book. Another point is coild they come back years gown the road and punch into the rise run formation, possible and no new lease bonus at that point,. What if they decide to connect the Clinton wells by horizontal drilling to grab the untouched formation between the wells?
Na this should be point specific!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
