I have had a lease with Northeast Energy for about 2 yrs.,I get delayed rental checks every quarter. Well I didnt receive latest and called Northeast and was informed that they surrendering lease.This was 3 months ago and it has not been filed as surrendered at the courthouse,shouldn't they have to pay until its filed at courthouse as surrendered?

Short answer...NO. 

Ohmy unless that delayed rental was a big one and the lease was super super good, lay low and hope they don't send the check. Did you ask at the recorders office if they were up to date on filing the surrenders?  Many recorders office have been over run by the oil & gas business and also call the company again.
