Met with a few people today with Des.  I'm not going in details on here, but i stongly encourage anyone that is unsigned to go to his meetings this week.  The first is at Union Local Tuesday night.  Personally, I don't care who brings the contract to the table or how much this person will make off of any agreement, as long as the lease is there for all of us to maximize our opportunity to capatilize on this gold mine.

lost , the only problem is when some one  insult the wives , daughters , and girl friends of the good people here .

That's a game changer !

That's also a very good way to distract people from the real issues, right?

I mean, if everyone is bickering over something that is ultimately meaningless, they are not focusing on the things that could have a real-life effect.   If someone were trying to do something underhanded, misdirection is a powerful tool.

Thanks Lost , We have been look for a  president of this site and it looks like your the fella . Congrads .   You seem like a nice enough guy but you just show up and start trying to run the show and criticize  the ones who have brought a lot to light to this process and are doing the searching and venting of what true and whats not true .

We have been here for a long time and when we see a virus we try to remove it .

I suggest you either watch and listen like you said you have or call a spade a spade not bite the hand that's feed you .

Like you said this is going to change most peoples lives .

For some reason, I can't reply below, so:

I'm not trying to take over, or criticize, and I'm not a guy.  I saw a valid question, namely "Should landowners pay $50+ per acre for a title search?", and a lot of replies that had nothing to do with that question, so I decided to offer my opinion, based on my own experience.   I guess I just see a fundamental difference between "This person is wrong because of this or that fact" and "You're a fat loser!"

However, you are correct in stating that I haven't been here that long.  If this is the normal means of choosing a course of action, I will not make any further comments on it.

Sorry lost on the fella thing , I really mean that . You as a girl should be upset on some of the things directed to the girls of the valley .

I agree with the distract part you say .  We as men don't take kindly to someone trashing the girls in our life - that is off limits .

I hope this is behind us and we can move forward .

This is a great place for you to learn and I would help how ever I can , I already did by sticking up for you and all of the girls involved in this forum .

As a professional woman who's worked in a lot of male-dominated industries, I have a pretty thick skin when it comes to rude comments based solely on my gender.   I have also learned that the best way to deal with those kinds of comments is to ignore them.  I decided a long time ago that when you roll in the mud with a pig, you just get dirty, and the pig usually enjoys it.*

As I said, I don't have an agenda here, and I'm not really on either side.  I just saw a chance to offer a semi-informed opinion, and I was hoping to continue a civil discussion on the subject in question.

*I am not calling anyone a pig, it is a metaphor.

LostInTheShuffle;  Thanks for your input.  I happen to like reading facts about the industry.  The metaphor about pigs rings true on this forum, although I agree that it becomes tough, even for the educated, to not get drug into the mud and argue about subjects that do not have anything to do with oil and gas.  I can't imagine anyone agreeing to pay $50/acre for a title search, especially when the landowners have leased before and know that they own the mineral rights.   Let's hope the price of natural gas increases and acceptable language starts appearing in leases/addendums soon.

Lost,

It was a good way for Robert the title abstractor/landman/??? to distract and steer the focus away from all the BS he posted.

Bill,

I have done exactly that. My family has land in Belmont and one parcel had an OLD O&G reservation that had never been acted on. We went to the courthouse in St. Clairsville and dug out all the old deeds and related docs one day. We spent about 6 hours in the courthouse doing this and as newbies found some help and direction from the Recorder's Office employees and others there doing similar work. Long story short - with what we dug up and using ORC 5301.56 we got those rights back - 95 acres worth. Well worth a day spent at the courthouse.

Based up my own experience, landowner themselves could do a typical title abstract in a busy recorder’s office in one day, two at the most.

This is the worst thread I have ever read.

Graham we would appreciate your help to fix the thread please feel free to comment! We would appreiate your enlightening us on this subject
