Anyone hear how these wells turned out? Any initial production estimates or numbers? My son works at Bestbuy and I guess a few of the Cheasapeake guys were in saying the wells came in good, but that's hearsay. Anyone know anything specific?

Ohio Releases First Official Utica Shale Results

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released production results on nine wells drilled and completed into the Utica Shale/Point Pleasant formation. The well names, cumulative production results and other pertinent information are listed below.

Mike, please fill us in... where did you find this information? As far as I can see, the well has not been abandoned. Can this be true?

Mike, I did go to the URL you sent me (thank you for the info) and I found that this information (well plugged and abandoned) is not for the horizontal producing well.  I live several miles from that well, and knew that there were two wells drilled (one is only several hundred feet deep, the other is the actual horizontal well). The plugged info is for the shallow well on site, not the deep well. If you go to the uticashalemaps site and zoom in on the well pad site, you will see that there are two wells there and two different listings of info. You had me scared there for a minute. Thanks for the update and an excellent website, and keep up the good tracking of info. Thanks Mike

Hi Freddy, a friend of mine "in the business" said he heard that the first hole drilled at the Hosey well was capped and lost, but another one was drilled and they are waiting on results, red tape, or money to proceed.

Yes Mike, CHK got a permit from the ODNR to drill the shallow well, and listed what was found (glacial sediment). I was never sure why they drilled this well, but there is a lot I do not know :-). As for the producing well, three reasons, 1) there is no high pressure line close to the well (as I am sure you know Mike living close to the well) to pipe the gas and liquids out, and 2) gas prices are depressed and storage is full so there is little incentive to build a pipeline 3) CHK is cash strapped and has stated they will not be pursuing cash expenditures unless the ROI shows otherwise.

This article refers to a Hartville well pad.  The only pad Iam aware of in that area is the Hosey 6H (Congress Lake) on the border of Portage and Stark and it is beside Hartville and the Conrad's property.    Per the article Chesapeake stated that they could produce 4.5 M barrels  and 3.5 billion cubic feet of gas from this pad but only if they can force all landowners into a pool.  So if Chesapeake's statement is accurate then this may be a very good pad.   ...I believe there has been no activity since they completed the well so are they delaying or did they have unforseen issues.

This is a fascinating article.  I must have misinterpreted the data that I found.  I am glad to hear that the Hosey well is still on track.  I used to live right beside the Conrads and their house is less than a mile from the Hosey well.
