Joseph I  too think it is strange that there has been nothing released about this sale. This info is crucial to our area and if a new player is in town the landowners need to know that. We are watching and wondering.

My theories only:

Looking at the history we read that Chesapeake was 1st to move to sell it's Utica holdings in Ohio (Meagher acting as Broker); and then also reading that four (4) deals in that package had occurred but, without any news pertaining to who may have bought, or if there are yet more deals in process); and now also reading that Chesapeake cites that it is concentrating on developing the 'oil window' portions of their holdings.

Next and most recently we read where EnerVest moved to sell it's Utica holdings in Ohio, and also reading that they are citing that they discovered that they were not that prepared to deal with the development costs / risks.

Wondering now since we've read that alot of EnerVest's leaseholds are in the 'oil window' if it may be a marketing tactic toward selling it's Ohio Utica 'oil window' leaseholds to Chesapeake ? 

Oh, I guess we can speculate on a million underlying reasons but, it all boils down to guess work on our behalf.

Any ideas of your own you'd care to share ?

Maybe the upcoming election has alot to do with things ?
