This week a Senator revealed a new EPA set of regulations which include the study of "fracking" in the Utica, Marcellus, and other shale formations around the country. Coal is not the only mineral under attack by this administration. They are to go into effect right after the election, according to the Senator's report.  For those of you that want to keep your chances of receiving royalties the reason to vote against Obama is more important then ever. Please vote!!! This play will be shut down.

I knew you guys in Ohio would come through:

CNN Poll: Obama 50% . Romney 46% in Ohio.

My Ohio husband has lots of land in the middle of you.  He was a farm boy.

thanks Marinell...Uh oh.... Hey hunter... what does your inside anony mouse informant say we should do if Willard loses? Should we lower our signing bonus demands? Shall we give up safeguards to our properties and communities to the trust of O&G companies? Just so they drill? What will we do with our worthless properties? What will YOU do Hunter? Gonna sell cheap? let me know....

Why are you on this site. Are you here to harrass others or to share information which may be helpful to others? You obviously are a Obama backer but you don't need to act like a child.

I'm here because i seek information... FACTS about the shale gas industry... and how it will affect my livelyhood and finances and quality of life.I am not here for your political OPINION. I dont believe you have some access to secret documents or secret conversations about secret regulations that are to come out next week.... i believe that at this late date, you are trying to influence some possible undecided voters with your probably manufactured allegations.... but you know what hunter? I would say that most people have decided who they are voting for. So good try, but i wish you would just come clean and tell us what is actually going to happen next week, and why is it that only you here know what that is? Why are you here? Are you trying to influence the election because of your own financial situation? That seems to be your main issue here.

To Marinell - Amen

Food for thought.  In 2008 Obama said he fully supported clean coal.  In a private (he thought) conversation he made the statement that anyone could build a coal-fired electric plant-but they would go bankrupt.  The WW Sammis plant spent well over two million dollars to replace their tower to meet epa standards.  They are now virtually shut down.  Thousands of Ohio and West Virginia coal miners have been laid off when their mines were forced to close due to epa regulations.  Over one thousand First Energy employees have or will soon be laid off.    Ohio has already lost five coal fired electric plants.  State drilling permits take, on average one to two months to be issued.   Federal permits (if you can even get them considered) take from one to two YEARS to be issued.   This election cycle Obama again said he supported clean coal-and natural gas development, in the same sentence.  (Made me shudder)  I do not believe that Romney is perfect-but I do firmly believe that he is far more friendly to home grown energy and better for our future.

Just concerned Obama will say anything for a second term in the Whitehouse.

I think pollution is a federal matter. No state should ever supercede the federal guidlines which provide for a clean environment for the entire country. Obama didn't create nor did he sign the clean air, water acts. Nixon a republican signed them into law.

Its the regulations  you need to worry about ,Elnathan.I am glad for the people who got leases and got paid this .year. But because of Obama's hugh tax increases for 2013. if I even get a lease, I will get raped. Not just increase in marginal rates, but limitation on deductions, plus 3.8% medicare surcharge. I have about 237 acres and the way I figure it Obama's going to get about 40%. I do not think that .is fair, do you? I imagine a lot of folks who got paid are happy and I am happy for them. Wonder if they care about the rest of us who will likely have to put up with the Obama for 4 more years, and his redistribute the wealth policies. When and if they drill we will all get screwed royally by Mr. Obama. I can even conceive of some federal moratorium on fracking which will really hurt. He is not for fossil fuels, just for giving more of our tax dollars to the green industries of which Solyndra is but one example. Most of the other companies that pissed our tax dollars down the toilet have been ignored by the mainstream media.

Samuel, I dont mean to be derrogatory, but seems you are cursing your good fortune. If you dont want "obama to get 40%" then why sign? I do understand that if you sign for a million, 400000 is a lot of money, but 600000 would be life changing money to me. I would be thankful for that if it were me, but you can curse it if that makes you feel better.

I agree with Elnathan.

The clean air act of 1955 was inacted after Donora, Pa's Zinc Works smoke, during an inversion and heavy fog, left 20 dead and thousands ill.  http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/killer-smog-claims-elder...

From Wikipedia:

The Clean Air Act is a United States federal law designed to control air pollution on a national level. It requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop and enforce regulations to protect the general public from exposure to airborne contaminants that are known to be hazardous to human health. The 1963 Act established a basic research program, which was expanded in 1967. The major amendments to the law, requiring regulatory controls for air pollution, were enacted in 1970, 1977 and 1990.

The 1970 amendments greatly expanded the federal mandate by requiring comprehensive federal and state regulations for both stationary (industrial) pollution sources and mobile sources. Federal enforcement authority was also significantly expanded.

The 1990 amendments added provisions for addressing acid rain, ozone depletion and toxic air pollution, established a national permits program for stationary sources, and increased enforcement authority. The amendments also established new auto gasoline reformulation requirements, set Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) standards to control evaporative emissions from gasoline, and mandated that the new gasoline formulations be sold from May to September in many states.

The Clean Air Act is significant in that it was the first major environmental law in the United States to include a provision for citizen suits. Numerous state and local governments have enacted similar legislation, either implementing federal programs or filling in locally important gaps in federal programs.
